The weather is just right with cool breeze and cloudy skies. Just the right morning to put on your jacket, pull up your riding denims, put on the riding shoes, put on the full-face helmet, switch on the motorcycle and wear the gloves while hearing that beautiful sound of your motorcycle.

You sit on the motorcycle and pull down your helmet visor. This the moment, the fog starts building inside the helmet and you wish there is an easy way to clear the fog.

Fogging inside a full-face helmet is a common problem, that we riders usually face, unless the helmet is treated with an “Anti-fog” treatment OR the helmet has Pinlock® lens insert.

What’s Pinlock® ?

is a lens. Remember this logo, when you are buying a product that claims Pinlock® ready or with Pinlock®

As a rider or a buyer, it would be good to understand what Pinlock® is and when and why you should buy or wear a Pinlock® helmet.

Pinlock® is the best anti-fog solution that is available today, for a helmet. The Pinlock® company with its research and technology has developed a unique anti-fog insert for the helmets.  It is very common to have condensation build up inside the full-face helmet, as we breath or as the temperature difference between the area inside the visor and the outside changes.

The company has 3 lenses, providing different level of standard, fit, and the vision.

Let’s understand how does Pinlock® work

A Pinlock® is an insert (like a sticker) that is applied to the inside of the helmet’s visor. The Pinlock®. This creates a “sealed” chamber of air between itself and the inside of the shield. The inside of the helmet will be warmer as compared to the outside temperature. This difference in the temperature is what causes the “fogging” effect. The Pinlock® insert, when applied, creates an insulation between the shield and the inside of the helmet,

The Pinlock® insert is like a “Second” lens between the shield and inside of the helmet.

When should you buy a Pinlock®helmet OR Pinlock® ready helmet?

Now that the Pinlock®operation is clarified, let’s look at when to go in for a Pinlock® helmet (some helmets come “Pinlock® ready” – Meaning, the manufacturer has provided right amount of room between the shield and the inside of the helmet and they also have Pinlock® inserts available as accessories).

Pinlock® is something worth investing if you are a regular rider and always prefer to wear the full-face helmet. This will be a great helmet if your riding conditions involve varying temperatures or cold temperatures. Pinlock® helmets provide very good safety, in the areas where rains are common and you usually get caught in the rain, while riding.
